Shipping Live Plants — What to Expect Live plants require careful timing and handling to arrive healthy. Here's everything you need to know about how and when we ship, what it costs, and what happens after your order leaves our nursery.

🌱 Shipping Seasons

We ship in two seasons — Spring and Fall — each designed to give your plants the best possible start. Summer shipping is not guaranteed.

Important: Bareroot plants ship in Spring only and cannot be shipped in Fall. During Fall season, visit our dedicated Fall Collections page to see what's available to order.

📦 Shipping Schedule & Batches

Orders are grouped into regional batches timed to match your local climate. When you place an order, it's scheduled for the batch best suited to your area. Once a batch fills up, your order moves to the next available ship date.

A note on timing: Ship dates provided at order placement are estimated week windows, not exact dates. We will always do our best to accommodate specific scheduling needs — just let us know when you order. Due to the nature of shipping live plants, we are unable to offer expedited or overnight delivery.

💰 Shipping Rates

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your order total and delivery location. We don't profit from shipping — our rates reflect the actual cost charged by USPS or UPS, and we subsidize a portion to keep costs as low as possible for you.

Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico ship via USPS at calculated rates.

💡 Best value tip: Fill your box! Shipping two bareroot trees often costs the same as shipping one — larger orders (especially over $100) get the most out of our flat-rate pricing.

Shipping is calculated per order at checkout. Orders placed separately may ship together when possible, but charges cannot be combined or adjusted after checkout. Cancelling an existing order to merge with another does not reduce shipping costs, as additional weight or box sizes still apply.

Double-check your details! Please verify your street address, zip code, and state at checkout — errors can affect your shipping rate and delay your order.

📍 Address Changes

If you need to update your shipping address before your order ships, please contact us as soon as possible. We may need to adjust the shipping cost — if the revised address results in a lower rate, we'll refund the difference.

Already in transit? If your order has shipped and needs to be rerouted, UPS charges a reroute fee of $21 or more — this cost will be passed along to you.

📬 Tracking & Packaging

Once your order ships, you'll receive tracking information by email. Plants are carefully packaged in boxes designed specifically to protect them during transit — so when they arrive, they're ready to go in the ground.

📚 Books & Supplies

Orders containing only Books & Supplies can ship year-round, depending on stock availability and weather conditions.
