At Raintree, we ship plants with care to ensure they arrive healthy and ready to thrive in your garden. Because live plants require special handling, we ship only during specific seasons and in regional batches designed to match your location.

Shipping Seasons

We have two shipping seasons: Spring and Fall.

• Spring shipping is when all bareroot plants are sent out, as this is the only time they can safely be shipped.
• Fall shipping is available only for customers in USDA Zone 6 and above and applies to select potted plants. During this season, you’ll find a dedicated Fall Collections page with the plants available to order.

Shipping Schedule

Orders are grouped into batches by region. When you place an order, it is scheduled for the batch best suited to your area. Once a batch is full, your order will move to the next available shipping date. To view our shipping schedule, please click here. Because of the care required in shipping live plants, we are unable to expedite or overnight deliveries. While we cannot guarantee exact delivery dates, we will do our best to accommodate any specific needs you share with us.

Shipping Rates

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your order total and location. Please double‑check that your shipping details—especially your street address, zip code, and state—are entered correctly. At Raintree, we don’t profit from shipping; our rates simply reflect the actual cost charged by USPS or UPS. We also subsidize a portion of the expense to keep costs as low as possible.

The most cost‑effective way to ship is to maximize your box. For example, shipping two bareroot trees often costs the same as shipping one, so placing larger orders (especially over $100) helps you get the best value from our flat‑rate shipping.

• West Zone: $24.99 flat rate up to a $166 subtotal, then 15% of the subtotal after that.
• East Zone: $39.99 flat rate up to a $159 subtotal, then 25% of the subtotal after that.

Address Changes

If you need to update your shipping address, we may need to adjust the shipping cost. If the revised address results in a lower rate, we’ll refund the difference. If your order has already shipped and is in transit, UPS may charge a reroute fee of $21 or more, which will be passed along to you.

Tracking & Packaging

Once your order ships, you’ll receive tracking information by email. Plants are carefully packaged in boxes designed to protect them during transit, so they arrive ready to grow.

Books & Supplies

If you place an order only containing Books & Supplies they can be shipped year-round depending on stock quantities. Weather permitting.
